The Hevalambi Ugadi festival was celebrated with fervour and devotees thronged all the temple shrines in various parts of Rajanna-Sircilla district on Wednesday.
Ancient and historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam at Vemulawada in the district was decked up with flowers and illuminations for the festivities to mark the Telugu New Year day.
The devotees thronged the temple shrine in large numbers to offer prayers to the presiding deities Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy and Goddess Parvathi.
Jagtial Collector A. Sharath along with his family members visited the Vemulawada temple shrine and offered prayers.
The traditional ‘panchanga sravanam’ was conducted by the Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy Devasthanam priests on the temple premises. The Devasthanam authorities felicitated the priests on the occasion.
Collector Krishna Bhaskar participated in the official Ugadi festival celebrated at Padmanayaka Function Hall in the town.
Joint Collector Yasmeen Basha, DRO Shyam Prasad Lal and others participated in the celebrations where poets and artistes from the district were honoured with Ugadi Puraskarams for their contribution to art and literature.
