The Chief Minister, K.Chandrasekhar Rao, on Monday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to firmly deal with illegal constructions and resort to demolition of structures that were illegal and built without permission in the city.
At a review meeting with Deputy Chief Minister, Mahmood Ali, Home Minister, Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Excise Minister, T.Padma Rao and Transport Minister, Mahender Reddy, Mr.Rao advised the officials to take the help of police if required, as illegal constructions were without permission and does not require any advance notice to initiate action.
A notice could be served before initiating action against constructions that have permission but were built with deviations. The Chief Minister further indicated action to protect the Gurukul Trust lands and said due to the indifference of previous government, the lands were under illegal occupation. Constructions had come up there without permission and the government would ensure that all these lands were restored back, he said.
Mr.Rao said nobody would be spared if even an inch of Gurukul Trust lands were in illegal occupation and those encouraging too would be punished. He directed the police department to provide security in protecting the lands and cautioned that even willingness to provide water or electricity or any other facility from the government to such buildings would be viewed as illegal.
