The gang of four cheated a person from Cyberabad to the tune of ₹35 lakh

A Delhi-based gang of four persons allegedly involved in warehousing/mobile tower installation and collecting huge amounts from people saying they would install cell phone towers was busted by the Cyber Crime police of Cyberabad on Monday.

The accused, including Mohd. Junaid Alam (29), Anupreet Kaur (28), Mohd. Aslam (27) and Prem Kishore ((33) were arrested for the fraud that was said to run into several lakhs of rupees. The victim, Swayam Prakasham of Cyberabad lodged a complaint with the Cyberabad police, saying he had responded to an advertisement in an English newspaper seeking for vacant open space.

A person by name Rishab Khurana, said to be executive of Warehouse Solutions Ltd explained about his business and directed him to browse a website and fill up forms. Then he agreed to hand over his land at Patancheru. The victim also informed that he owned land in Odisha and after negotiation, it was agreed that both the properties would be leased out to the said company for nine years.

Fake email addresses

The victim paid ₹35 lakh to the company. The accused were said to have created fake email addresses for further correspondence. However, when the victim called the accused on their mobile numbers, all the mobiles were switched off and website too, shut down.

Following the complaint, investigators tracked the accused through bank accounts, mobile numbers and IP address of email and through withdrawal of amounts at various ATMs. The case was taken to its logical conclusion, culminating in the arrest of the accused in New Delhi and surrounding areas.

Several mobile phones and SIM cards, data cards, vehicles and small arms were seized from the accused. The case was investigated by Inspector P. Ravinder Reddy and his team. Cyberabad Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya appreciated the efforts of the team in solving the case.
