Dejected over results, Inter student ends life

An Intermediate first year student immolated herself in her house at Banda Maisamma in Gandhinagar on Monday, dejected over failure in three first year exams.

A private college student, Nikita, 17, was upset after learning that she failed in there first year exams results of which were announced on Sunday.

The teenager went to the penthouse around 5 p.m. after telling her grandfather that she had headache. She sprinkled kerosene on herself and lighted a matchstick. By the time, her family members rushed to the penthouse on seeing smokes, she sustained 80 per cent burns and died, the Gandhinagar Sub-Inspector G. Srinivas said.

Freak mishap

In another incident, an Intermediate second year student Rohit Kumar, 18, died after trying to get into a running bus at Hydernagar in KPHB Colony police station area on Monday.
