Doordarshan ‘Saptagiri’, which once ushered in the concept of daily serials with popular offerings such as Ruthu Ragalu has decided to recapture a considerable slice of Telugu television viewership with serials packaged with competitive content and a contemporary look.

This Sankranti festival season, it would be launching four new daily serials scheduled for telecast from Monday to Friday between 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Sailaja Suman, Deputy Director General, Hyderabad Doordarshan Kendra, said the new serials were made by leading television personalities and encompass wide ranging concepts.

“From treasure hunt in Aishwarya Kalasham to contemporary social trends in Brundavanam, the new set of serials cover different subjects and we hope will entertain and become popular with viewers,” she said. These four serials have been produced under a scheme of ‘Self Financing Commission’.

Improvising content

Sailaja Suman said Doordarshan which started the trend of daily serials with popular projects such as Ruthu Ragalu has been making efforts to improvise its content with fresh faces, more catchy graphics and concentrating on overall look of the serials.

Though the new serials have been slotted between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., plans were afoot to have a repeat telecast the next day between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and also possibilities of a late night telecast were being explored.
