DCA raids pharmacies of major corporate hospitals

Special teams of Drug Control Administration (DCA) conducted raids on the in-house pharmacies of 11 major corporate hospitals in Hyderabad to check for violations. Almost all the pharmacies in the corporate hospitals were found to be having one violation or the other, the special DCA teams found out after the raid, a DCA statement said.

The violations include overpricing, lower quality medicines, presence of medicines beyond expiry date, improper cold storage maintenance of medicines, lack of proper upkeep, violations under the Drugs Act and improper records maintenance, said Director, DCA, Dr. Akun Sabharwal.

The hospitals that were raided include Mediciti Hospital, Shamirpet, Continental Hospital, Gachibowli, Medwin Hospital, Nampally, Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, Kamineni Hospital, LB Nagar, Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Care Hospitals, Banjara Hills, Global Hospital, Lakdikapul, Star Hospital, Banjara Hills and Sunshine Hospitals, Secunderabad, the release added.
