Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party national executive member Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh not to disappoint Chief Minister K. Rosaiah during his New Delhi visit seeking Central assistance to tide over the situation arising out of cyclone ‘Laila'.
In an ‘open' letter to Dr. Singh, he criticised the UPA, which completed one year in office, for its policies, particularly with regard to creation of Telangana, denying Cabinet posts to MPs from the State, which contributed 33 MPs to the Lok Sabha, and denying Central recognition to ‘Jalayagnam' projects.
Mr. Dattatreya charged the Centre with ‘discriminating' against the State in the allocation of gas from the Krishna-Godavari Basin, not responding to the government's plea for increased LPG connections and remaining silent on higher power share for Andhra Pradesh from the Central pool.
The former Union Minister also faulted the Central government for not releasing Rs.1,000 crore flood relief announced by Dr. Manmohan Singh following the devastation caused in several districts.
