TRS failed to come to the rescue of farmers: Cong

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that in the three-year rule of K. Chandrasekhar Rao Government the police had unleashed terror on the SC, ST, BC, minorities. The Congress cadres and these sections will expose their excesses, he added.

Referring to incidents of attacks on Dalits and minorities in Nerella, handcuffing of tribal farmers in Khammam, razing the houses of Guthi Koyas in Bhupalapally district and alleged atrocities of TRS leaders on Congress activists in Banswada constituency, he described the three-year governance of KCR as a bane for the people.

Addressing the party workers here on Tuesday, the former Minister warned police and TRS leaders of paying dearly for their attacks as the Congress would come back to power in 2019. Amid the thunderous applause of the activists he said that the Congress would always stand like a solid rock behind them and come to their rescue in all situations.

He alleged that due to the negligence of TRS Government in giving remunerative price to agriculture produce, waiving of total farm loan and also interest at a time over 3,500 farmers committed suicides. He expressed dismay at no ruling party member approaching the bereaved family members to console despite such deaths.

“KCR family is more interested in taking 6% commission in projects rather than in solving public problems,” he alleged.

Mr. Uttam Kumar said that KCR could not keep his promises on double bed room houses, three-acre land to Dalits and 12% reservations each to the SCs, STs and minorities and therefore all these sections were disappointed. It was the Congress which had built irrigation projects and given water to 1.5 crore acres, he added.

Denying the allegations that Congress was creating hurdles in the construction of projects he said that when the small holdings of the poor farmers were forcibly taken over they moved the court and in which his party helped them. He said not even an extra unit of power was generated after Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao assumed the office.

He appealed to the party workers to go round every household and enlighten people on the failures of the TRS leadership on its promises and its conspiracy to divert their attention in the name of farmers’ federations.
