City-based custom-made furniture e-tailer CustomFurnish.com has raised Rs.16 crore and plans to launch its services in Chennai and Bengaluru shortly.

The company’s founder and CEO Madhukar Gangadi said apart from seed funding by a group of investors, which included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories chairman Satish Reddy and Peepul Capital founder Srini Raju, Rs.3 crore debt has been mobilised from SIDBI.

“Our aim is to remove the constraints of catalogue based model of selling. We want to replace it with an interactive approach,” said Dr. Gangadi.

Explaining the features of the venture, he said customers get to design their home furniture through a mix and match of colour, style, size and materials. While modular kitchens, wardrobes, entertainment units and sofa sets form part of the existing range, the company plans to add more products.
