Capt. P.V.K. Mohan has been re-elected as vice-president of the International Billiards & Snooker Federation for a second term unanimously at the Annual General Meeting in Sofia (Bulgaria) late on Thursday night, according to information received here.
Lack of sponsors
City-based Capt. Mohan, also the president of the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India, said that his main efforts will be to set up a world class Cue Sports Academy on the outskirts. He, however, regrets the lack of title sponsors for even the national events.
No support
“It is sad that despite the cue sports producing two Rajiv Khel Ratna awardees, a Padma Bhushan and three Padma Shris and many Arjuna awardees, there is not much support,” he pointed out and added for good measure, “remember we gave India 24 world, 12 Asian titles besides many international medals”.
Yet, the BSFI intends to cross all financial hurdles and ensure the players get the desired exposure in the international events, said Capt. Mohan of the Seaway Shipping group. The sports will also be taken to other cities like Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, he added.
