The GHMC has warned that criminal cases will be filed and a fine of Rs.1,000 per poster will be collected from those resorting to illegal pasting of posters and defacing the public property.

In the last six months, two criminal cases were filed and more than Rs.1.10 lakh collected from offenders, informed Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu.

He pointed out that the vigilance staff had surveyed different areas of the twin cities and had recorded the locations of the posters and banners put up illegally against the municipal rules.

Notices are being served based on the addresses mentioned on the posters and fines will be collected.

Criminal cases were filed against two agencies in Chikkadpally and Saifabad for having failed to respond to notices issued by the vigilance cell for pasting posters in bulk at Ashoknagar and Lakdikapul railway bridge.

The vigilance wing will be conducting inspections day and night for penalising offenders, the Commissioner said in a press release.
