Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the police to register criminal cases against the owner of the hotel building that collapsed on Monday morning claiming 12 lives and leaving several others injured.
Mr. Reddy held a meeting with officials at the Secretariat to review the status of old buildings after visiting the mishap site and consoling the injured at Gandhi Hospital.
He also instructed the officials to probe any negligence on part of the GHMC in the incident.
The Chief Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery of the injured.
Officials informed that 11 people were brought dead to the hospital and one succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
Of the 12, six people were workers of the hotel and remaining were customers. Ten of the 23 injured were treated as outpatients and 13 were under treatment.
A team of doctors were in place and additional expert doctors were also brought from Osmania Hospital to Gandhi Hospital, officials said. The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty and other senior officials of various departments including the Labour Commissioner to arrange compensation of Rs. 7.5 lakh to the kin of those who died in the incident, from the hotel management.
The above compensation is apart from the Apathbandhu assistance of Rs. 50,000 and the compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to be paid by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
He also directed the Health Department officials to ensure best treatment to all the injured and critical victims and if required, as per the wishes of their family members, could be shifted to suitable hospitals for better treatment.
