TDP district president K. Satyanarayana has demanded that the government register a criminal case against the contractor executing tunnel works of Kaleshwaram project in Thippapur village in Illanthakunta mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district and where a roof collapse caused death of seven labourers on Wednesday.

In a press note here on Wednesday, he alleged that the ruling TRS MP’s close relative had secured the contract for the execution of the tunnel work and failed to follow the safety norms and caused the mishap killing seven innocent migrant labourers.

He said that it was unfortunate that the incident took place after the Central team had inspected the ongoing works at the tunnel and demanded that the government should provide ex-gratia of ₹20 lakh each to bereaved family.

Recollecting that the Mid Manair reservoir earth dam had breached a year ago due to negligence of the contractor, he said that the contractors belonging to the ruling party were swindling public money and causing huge loss to the exchequer by resorting to poor quality works.
