The ‘apprehensions, prejudices and concerns’ about law and order maintenance in Telangana, expressed by some before its formation, turned out to be false, said Minister for IT, K.T. Rama Rao, here on Tuesday. The ‘significant improvement in law and order’ in the State was the answer to such sceptic perception about Telangana state, he said.
Pilot project
The Minister was speaking after formally inaugurating the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) at the DGP’s office here. Three years ago, Telangana was chosen for the pilot project of CCTNS by the Union Ministry for Home Affairs.
On Tuesday, the project became completely operational in the State and was made available for utility of the police personnel and the public as well. There were several complaints from people that complaints were not being received at the police stations.
When a citizen goes to lodge a complaint with any police station in the State, it would be uploaded in the computer system by the receptionist through the CCTNS. The complainant will be given an ID for it.
“Whether a First Information Report issued or not, the complaint would be available in the CCTNS and the citizen would get a text message on mobile phone about receipt of the same,” Additional DGP, Technical Services, Ravi Gupta, said.
DGP Anurag Sharma, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy and top police officials were present.
