Cricket betting racket busted, nine arrested

The city police on Friday busted a cricket betting racket by arresting nine persons, including two businessmen.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Abdul Khadeer of Mangannapet, Shaik Mohammed Ghouse of Moula Ali, G. Kiran Kumar of Malkajgiri, Shaik Shameer Basha, Shaik Imran, V. Dharma Raju, P. Vamshi Krishna, Patan Mohammed Khan, Abdul Imran, Shaik Chand Pasha and Shaik Basha, all residents of New Bagh Amberpet.

Fifty-two mobile phones, SIM cards, three LCD TVs, three laptops and Rs.58,000 in cash were recovered from them. The two businessmen – Khadeer and Ghouse took a house on rent at New Bagh, Amberpet and were accepting bettings from known persons.
