March 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telangana unit of the Communist Party of India-Marxist has decided to launch a fight to showcase the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s unfulfilled promises by taking along other political parties and organisations that worked for the people’s interests.

At a press conference a few hours before the party’s State Committee meeting, State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the meeting would see the firming up of an action plan of the partyfor the next three months.

“There are issues that need a united fight and there are issues that can be raised by supporting the organisations crusading them,” he stated, adding that issues like the woes of farmers suffering from drought, inadequate power supply and shortage of seed, fertilizers and pesticides, and loan waiver needed to be raised with the government. “Take the categorisation of Scheduled Castes that is being spearheaded by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti. While we are fully in support of the Samiti’s demand; it has to be agreed that it concerns only students and unemployed youth.

3 acres for every

Dalit family

In contrast, the promise of 3 acres of land for every Dalit family is something that will benefit the community as a whole and these are situations that need a protracted struggle,” he pointed out.

He said the party had spoken to MRPS founder Krishna Madiga and also to Addanki Dayakar of the Mala Mahanadu and explained to them how there were issues that all organisations working for the welfare of Scheduled Castes could fight together. Responding to a question on elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Mr. Veerabhadram said the party had welcomed the move of the Supreme Court in asking the government to announce a date soon.
