The Cyberabad police on Sunday nabbed a CPI leader for allegedly duping people promising them to distribute Bhoodan Yagna lands at Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district.

Collects Rs.50 lakh

Police said the accused, Shankar Naik of Singareeni Colony in Ibrahimpatnam collected Rs.50 lakh from over 100 people assuring them to give government land.

The fraud came to light when some villagers lodged a complaint with the police a few days ago stating that the prime accused Naik and village Sarpanch were among the eight involved in the case.

Case registered

Police registered cases against Naik and others, and arrested five persons. A hunt is on to nab other persons.
