The Cyberabad police on Sunday nabbed a couple for allegedly trying to transfer ownership of 3,050 square yards land in Ghatkesar by impersonating as its owners.
However, the gang leader and prime accused P. V. Maheswara Rao and three others are on the run.
Rao had asked the couple — P. Satyanarayana and Hymavathi of Balajinagar in Adikmet — to pose as Srinivas and Anuradha for transferring the ownership of the land.
Rao had allegedly prepared forged documents of the 3,050 square yards of land owned by K. Srinivas and his sister Anuradha in Ghatkesar.
The couple went to the Sub-Registrar office in Ghatkesar two days ago to compl-ete formalities by submitting fabricated documents.
The registrar, however, got suspicious and examined the documents only to realise that they were fake. When he questioned them, they slipped out of the office.
The registrar immediately lodged a complaint with the Ghatkesar police, who registered cases under Sections 419 (Punishment for cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of IPC and nabbed the couple. A hunt is on to nab Rao and his associates.
