Council bids farewell to 17 members

The Telangana Legislative Council on Friday bid farewell to 17 out of 36 members in a House of 40, who will retire on Sunday and May 1 on expiry of their term.

Those who will retire on Sunday are seven members elected by MLAs, including K.R. Amos, D. Srinivas, N. Rajalingam, Peer Shabbir Ahmed and K. Yadav Reddy (all Congress), Balasani Laxminarayana and Bodakunti Venkateswarlu (TRS).

Two members elected from graduates’ constituencies – K. Nageswar and K. Dileep Kumar – and a member nominated in the Governor’s quota – B. Venkata Rao also retire that day. The members who will retire on May 1 include Nethi Vidyasagar (Nalgonda), V. Bhoopal Reddy (Medak), T. Bhanu Prasad Rao (Karimnagar), S. Jagadeeshwar Reddy (Mahabubnagar), A. Narsa Reddy (Nizamabad), Potla Nageswara Rao (Khammam) and Patnam Mahender Reddy (Ranga Reddy).
