Corporates owe explanation

May 20, 2014 10:11 pm | Updated 10:35 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The report “IT firms fail to log out” in The Hindu dated May 1, 2014 reflects the duplicity of our corporates. It is indeed sad that prominent IT company also figured in the list whose founder himself is contesting for MP seat from Karnataka. Professionalism and corporate governance are mere fancy words which we have borrowed from the West and the underlying motto of these corporates is to maximise profit by squeezing the employees.

At a time when the government is seeking partnership with the corporates by asking them to share or participate in social endeavours aimed at the betterment of the society as part of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, the acts of these corporates cast shame on the entire country. Is it not basic to voluntarily declare holiday on the polling day?

I am sure that this is not an isolated case in city alone and it could be the norm all over the country. Our corporate bigwigs owe an explanation for their irresponsibility.

No gas delivery date messages

After delinking Aadhaar with LPG, the concerned gas distributing companies have stopped sending message to the consumer mobile phones regarding gas delivery date. This has become a very big inconvenience to the LPG consumers. Hence, I request the concerned authorities to send a message to the consumers regarding the gas delivery date.

Irresponsible waste disposal causing problems

For the last one year, residents of Anand Bagh in Safilguda and its surrounding colonies are bearing stench. There are complaints of breathing and eye problems by the residents as waste effluents are let out irresponsibly. This is a very serious threat to the colony. The Pollution Control Board (PCB) officials do not even bother to act whenever complaints are lodged. The residents request the PCB officials to take action against those companies which are letting out the waste effluents.

No security at ATM

The State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Ayodhya Nagar in Kapra does not have any security. Also, the ATM is not equipped with a back-up facility to deal with power cuts. This is causing inconvenience to the public. I request the authorities to look into these issues.
