A workshop on the role of Corporate Social Responsibility and Ageing in the city on Thursday stressed on the need for corporates to get involved with senior citizens.

“CSR is based on the idea that successful, profitable corporations have to take responsibility for social issues and manage their business process in a way that it is a win-win situation for the company, stakeholders and also society,” said a speaker.

The workshop was inaugurated by Jibitesh Rath of NMDC.

Organised in the backdrop of changes in Companies Act-2013, the workshop aimed at identifying the opportunities for innovative action with the other stakeholders: Government, policy makers, NGOs and senior citizens organisations and individuals working with the elderly.
