Will facilitate motorists take expressway from Aramgarh side and join traffic going towards S.D. Eye Hospital
The completion of construction of a ramp on the P.V. Narasimha Rao Elevated Expressway at Aramgarh will now facilitate motorists take the expressway from Aramgarh side and join the free flow of vehicular traffic going towards S.D. Eye Hospital.
To be opened soon
The ramp is likely to be thrown open for use very shortly, authorities say. This is first of the six ramps to be completed and work on the other five is in various stages of completion.
The readied ramp will also facilitate those driving down from the Nehru Zoological Park side to get onto the expressway. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials are waiting for clearance from the Cyberabad police to open it for use. “We have asked the Cyberabad police to visit the facility before it opens for vehicles,” an official said.
At the same time, work on the down ramp near Happy Homes is also nearing completion with a few small works pending. The access for a by-lane has turned into an issue here following which a service road has been provided by the GHMC.
“With this, the rest of the work will be finished soon,” the official said.
The elevated structure, the longest such facility in the country, was opened last year and the HMDA has been trying to finish work on the ramps and provide intermediate access to the expressway that connects the city with airport at Shamshabad.
Dec. 15 deadline
Work on the other four ramps had been delayed because of different issues including shifting of utility lines and also relocation of a place of worship. At the Lakshminagar ramp, a storm water drain and approach for locals was an issue. To resolve these issues, the HMDA has taken up laying of a small road covering the storm water drain and once that is done with, the work on ramp will start. “The deadline for this ramp is December 15 and we look forward to complete it by then,” officials said.
For the right side ramp here, a place of worship needs to be relocated and efforts are on to find a solution.
Meanwhile, shifting of power lines and also water lines has been taken up for the remaining two.
