A 48-year-old head constable was arrested here on Friday for raping a minor, who was rescued late on Thursday. The accused is attached to the Kamatipura police station.

The 15-year-old girl was kept in a house in the Shastripuram area by the head constable, who is married and has five children, Inspector of the Kamatipura police station S. Sudarshan said.

The girl’s elder sister, who is her guardian following the death of their parents, lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday, saying the victim had been taken away by the constable in a car on March 2, he said.

Since the girl was a minor, a case under IPC Section 363 (kidnapping) was registered against the head constable. He was taken into custody while the girl was sent for medical examination, he said.
