Congress leaders submit memorandum to collectors

Democratic roles: Police personnel stopping TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka from entering district collector office in Khammam on Wednesday.

The Congress party held protests at all the collectorates in the State against the police brutality on 12 persons of Nerella village in Rajanna Sricilla district and submitted memoranda to the collectors at all the district headquarters.

The protests were led by senior leaders of the party belonging to the respective districts.

The Congress leaders demanded the suspension of Superintendent of Police of Rajanna-Sircilla disrtict Vishwajit and other police officers responsible for the attack on Dalits, extension of assistance towards medical expenses to those who were subjected to physical torture, payment of ₹ 25 lakh compensation to the bereaved families of those who were killed in road accidents involving sand laden lorries, along with the dismissal of Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao.

Across districts

In Nizamabad the Congress cadre were led by Leader of Opposition in the Council Shabbir Ali and Mahesh Kumar; in Medak by MLA J. Geeta Reddy and Sunita Lakshma Reddy; in Karimnagar by MLA T. Jeevan Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, Mritunjayam, in Mahabubnagar by MLAs D.K. Aruna and Sampath Kumar, Mallu Ravi and in Ranga Reddy by former minister Sabita Indra Reddy, Prasad Kumar, Sudheer Reddy and Kyama Mallesh. In Nizamabad the police arrested the Congress cadres including former Speaker of AP Assembly K.R. Suresh Reddy and former minister P. Sudarshan Reddy.

Local leaders

In Adilabad, former District Congress Committee president led a rally of his party men to Collectorate where he submitted a memorandum. At Asifabad town in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, former MLA Athram Sakku led a rally to Collectorate.

In Khammam, scores of Congress cadre led by TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy staged a protest at the Dharna Chowk here demanding exemplary punishment to those responsible for the alleged “inhuman act.” Addressing the demonstrators, Mr. Vikramarka alleged that the police subjected eight innocent villagers of Nerella to third degree torture after implicating them in a “false case.”
