The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is confident that the minorities and other sections would come back into the Congress fold in Telangana and rest of the country. The first meeting of the committee set up under the chairmanship of senior Congress leader, D. Srinivas, to win back the trust of people would meet on April 16 at Gandhi Bhavan. The committee will furnish its report within 100 days and basing on its recommendations, a strategy would be evolved to strengthen the party and regain the support of the estranged sections, said TPCC president, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
He told presspersons here on Monday that the constitution of the committee was a follow up of the State level convention held at Ibrahimpatnam.
During the 2014 elections the traditional vote banks of the Congress had deserted it, although it was the Congress which created Telangana. Mr. Srinivas thanked the PCC for reposing faith in him to undertake the task.
He would submit a comprehensive report within the stipulated time. He said there was no erosion in the traditional vote bank of Congress. People had voted TRS emotionally swayed by the ‘Telangana sentiment’, Mr. Srinivas said.
The TPCC president said he would be writing a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, asking him to include the contributions of Congress, particularly its president, Sonia Gandhi, for the cause of Telangana in the school textbooks.
