Congress MLA G. Chinna Reddy was allegedly assaulted by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers in Venkatapuram village of Wanaparthy Assembly constituency in Mahabubnagar on Monday.

According to reports, Mr. Chinna Reddy, who represents Wanaparthy constituency, visited Venkatapuram village to participate in developmental works. An argument ensued over following protocol procedure with the local Mandal Parishad president, Krishna Naik.

There were arguments, following which, TRS workers allegedly pushed the MLA. Congress workers, who were accompanying him, came to his rescue. A tense situation prevailed as workers of both parties argued. The Congress party took serious view of the incident and decided to petition Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary on violation of protocol.

Attack flayed

At a press conference on Monday, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, CLP leader K. Jana Reddy and Leader of Opposition in Council Md. Ali Shabbir came down heavily on the TRS government for resorting to physical attacks on the Opposition party legislators.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that it was a deliberate act on part of the TRS workers to attack the Congress MLA.

Mr. Jana Reddy said the Congress was keeping quiet as it felt that the TRS government should be given some time before its lapses were exposed. But the TRS workers were resorting to an undemocratic act.
