Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief spokesperson Sravan Dasoju has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s claims on growth of State at a conclave organised by a media house were bogus and questioned as to how can it be the richest State when it has borrowed over ₹90,000 crore in the last three years.
At a press conference here, Mr. Sravan reminded that Telangana inherited debts of nearly ₹ 60,000 crore at the time of its formation and the TRS government borrowed ₹90,000 crore so far. Now, the Chief Minister is trying to borrow another ₹25,000 crore from China and ₹30,000 crore from Gulf countries in the name of projects.
He questioned as to why over ₹200 crore were spent for organising the World Telugu Conference when Mr. Rao feels that there is nothing called “Telugu Pride” or “Telugu Identity”. He said personalities like Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu, Raghavendra Rao, L. Rajagopal and others were targeted by Mr. Rao for the backwardness of Telangana and the same have now become dearer to him.
Companies like Navayuga or Mega Constructions, whom he had accused of looting Telangana’s wealth and resources in the past, are getting all the contracts in Telangana. Such ‘management politics’ cannot not go on for long, he said
He said Mr. Rao had opposed Union Territory status for Hyderabad during statehood movement and today he himself is mooting the idea of second capital that would make Hyderabad a UT if the proposal fructifies.
