The Congress and the Communist Party of India (CPI) have demanded that the State government take over the Sri Satya Sai Central Trust in the wake of growing differences between the trust members and the disturbing developments taking place.
The CPI, in a letter to Home Minister P.Sabitha Indra Reddy on Wednesday, sought to know the details of the transportation of money from Yajur Mandir to other places. They said that the secrecy maintained over surfacing of the money was creating doubts in the minds of Baba's devotees and the common man.
The CPI State committee members – K. Ramakrishna, Chada Venkata Reddy and R. Venkaiah – wanted the culprits behind transporting the money to be booked and denied bail. They said police officials should not succumb to pressure from their higher-ups.
AICC secretary P.Sudhakar Reddy at a press conference demanded a detailed enquiry into the affairs of the trust. He wanted the trust to be declared an autonomous body on the lines of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
