TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy says formation of Congress government in Telangana in 2019 will be the best gift to Sonia Gandhi, whose birthday was celebrated on December 9, 2017.

Sonia Gandhi’s birthday celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday turned out to be a KCR bashing session with leader after leader of the Congress giving a call for “KCR hatao and Telangana bachao” and reiterating that it was time for re-alignment of anti-KCR forces to save Telangana from ‘suppression’ and ‘undemocratic rule.’

The occasion was used by the recent entrant into the party, A. Revanth Reddy, to make a statement as he came in a huge rally, for the first time into Gandhi Bhavan after he joined the Congress, leaving Telugu Desam.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who led the grand celebrations, said formation of Congress government in Telangana in 2019 would be the best gift to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. The day was celebrated as “Krithagnatha Dinotsavam” (Thanksgiving Day) for turning 60-year-old dream for Telangana state into a reality.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said people of Telangana would remain indebted to Mrs Sonia Gandhi for the historic decision announced on her birthday in 2009 moved by the sacrifices made by youth and students for statehood. He said Mrs Gandhi preferred people of Telangana over seats and power and brought everlasting smiles on Telangana people’s faces.

He alleged that KCR had shattered the original dream of Telangana and his wrong policies pushed Telangana into a huge debt crisis. Over 30 lakh jobless youth were waiting for placements and his negligence had driven over 3,500 farmers to suicide. He alleged that the Government opened State's exchequer to contractors, only to get commissions. “While poor people are still waiting for the promised double bedroom houses, KCR and his family is living a lavish lifestyle in ₹500 crore Pragati Bhavan.”

Senior leader S. Jaipal Reddy was quite harsh on KCR, saying he cheated people with false promises only for power. On the other hand, Mrs Gandhi had made a huge sacrifice turning down the Prime Ministership thrice and also kept her promise of granting Telangana. He said Congress was an ocean anyone could join, to fight KCR, hinting at Revanth’s entry.

Mr. Revanth Reddy said only Congress could defeat KCR and that’s why he joined the Congress. He said all forces should come together to see the end of TRS in Telangana. He also made allegations against K.T. Rama Rao’s father-in-law stating that he used a ST certificate to join Government service. His criticism of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao received huge response.
