Leader of the opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that people are confident that only Congress can protect secularism and unity among all Indians.

Mr. Shabbir interacted with a delegation of 20 minority leaders led by Zameer Ahammed, MLA of Bangalore constituency, who joined the Congress recently from Janata Dal party, called on him. He explained to them how the 4% minority reservations introduced in A.P. and Telangana by the Congress had paid rich dividends for the Muslim youth.

He said the Congress party under Rahul Gandhi has recorded stellar results in Gujarat and is ready to face elections in Karnataka. He responded positively to the appeal by Mr. Ahmed that Telangana Congress should campaign in 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections in erstwhile Nizam state areas like Raichur, Gulbarga and Bidar districts. He said it was known from reliable sources that the MIM party was likely to play the decisive role of dividing minority votes in favour of BJP as it has done in Nanded Municipal elections.
