Cong. questions CM’s tone, tenor against RTC staff

The Congress party objected to the tone and tenor of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao against the RTC employees and said it was nothing but intimidating those who served a strike notice.

At separate press conferences here, G. Chinna Reddy, MLA and TPCC vice-president and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar said it was not fair on the part of the CM to target the RTC employees who played a key role in the formation of Telangana.

Mr. Prabhakar said it was important to note Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao was the honorary president of the recognised employees union that threatened to go on the strike. He questioned whether the tone would have been the same if his daughter K. Kavita or his son KTR were the honorary presidents of the union.

The words used by KCR at his press conference on Wednesday should have been used before the union elections in RTC to see the results. Both the CM and Transport Minister Mahender Reddy were bothered about employees.

Mr. Chinna Reddy said Tamil Nadu government allocated ₹ 4,700 crore for its RTC in the budget and the CM should take a note of it rather than speaking in a threatening tone. He said the RTC was losing revenue due to concessions given by the Government for passes to various sections and it should reimburse it.

He reminded that the TRS had promised RTC employees wages on par with the government employees and they should be extended all the benefits.
