Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has called upon the Dalits to teach a fitting lesson to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his son and IT and Municipal Administration Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao for harassing the Dalits.
Addressing a well-attended public meeting organised by the District Congress Committee as part of the Congress Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra in Sircilla on Wednesday, he alleged that Mr. K.T. Rama Rao instructed the police to torture Dalits and BCs of Nerella village for questioning the illegal sand mafia as the sand-laden lorries were causing several deaths in the district.
Recollecting his Nerella visit to inquire about the torture of Dalits, Mr. Reddy said it was one of the most horrible experiences of his life. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumari, who was instrumental in passage of bill granting Statehood to Telangana, wept after seeing the plight of Dalits in Nerella village, he reminded people.
IT jobs
Alleging that the Minister’s relatives were involved in the sand mafia in the district, he charged the TRS government with collecting 6% commission in Mission Bagheeratha work by allocating work to Andhra contractors.
He said the IT jobs had declined ever since KTR took over the IT portfolio.
Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy captivated the audience with his dialogues and tirade against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members. He alleged that the TRS government had amassed ₹150 crore commission in the purchase of Bathukamma sarees from Surat in Gujarat amid cheers.
Instead of providing job to the powerloom weavers of Sircilla, the government purchased polyster sarees from Surat and insulted the Telangana womenfolk, he charged.
Cheating farmers
Telangana PCC working president Mallu Battivikramarka alleged that the State Government was cheating the farmers by announcing ₹4,000 input assistance per acre instead of increasing the MSP of the farm produce.
“We gave ₹15,000 for a quintal of turmeric and the TRS government was providing only ₹5,000 per quintal”, he pointed out. He gave a clarion call to the people to fight against the “rule of doras”.
Free power
Legislative Council Floor Leader Md. Shabbir Ali asked the TPCC President to include free power supply to the powerloom weavers in the election manifesto instead of existing norm of 50% subsidy.
He also reminded people that the Congress party MPs had strived for the passage of bill that lead to formation of Telangana and not Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members.
Congress party vice-president Ponnam Prabhakar said the TRS government had no right to celebrate women’s day as the Cabinet does not have a woman minister.
