The Professional Colleges Managements Association has urged the political parties to include their issues in their election manifesto considering that millions of people are either directly or indirectly connected to college education and the issues of colleges are directly related to the people.
In an open letter to the political parties, the association requested them to promise that reimbursement of tuition fee is given in four equal instalments and concessional electricity tariff on the lines of agricultural tariff.
The association representatives K.V.K. Rao, R. Pradeep Reddy, Gowtham Rao, K. Suneel Kumar and others said that house tax should be waived off to educational institutions and parties should promise condoning the deviations in the building plans granted by Gram Panchayats.
They also demanded that an education development bank be set up with a minimum annual fund of Rs.5,000 crore for granting loans to the needy educational institutions for creating infrastructural facilities, construction of hostels and staff quarters.
Financial problemsThey claimed that the Supreme Court had termed their activity as charitable in several judgements and colleges should be treated in that perspective.
They said colleges in the Telangana region were facing financial problems for the last 4 to 5 years due to the falling demand for professional courses.
