Fifty Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) across the erstwhile Warangal went on mass leave in protest against District Collector A. Murali’s alleged rebuff on their efficiency, here on Thursday. . It was said that during a recent video conference the Collector hurt them by saying that they are unworthy and inefficient.

“The Collector, with his behaviour, is subjecting us to severe mental torture. We are losing respect among our sub-ordinate staff because of his attitude,”the officers complained in a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, ZP chairperson G. Padma and CEO S. Vijayagopal.

Association president M Srinivas Rao has strongly condemned Murali’s comments. The collector should convene a meeting the association leaders and withdraw his comments forthwith, he demanded. The association has also demanded revocation of the suspension of an MPDO P. Sreedhara Swamy. He was suspended in view of his failure to attend video conference on Tuesday on ODF works and for allegedly switching off the mobile.
