District Collector P. Venkataram Reddy has warned that action would be initiated against those preventing the farmers coming ‘voluntarily’ to sell land to the government for irrigation projects. He has also warned those spreading wrong information in social media on the village of action.
Mr. Venkataram Reddy held discussions with some of the farmers of Vemulaghat village on Wednesday at the Collectorate.
The meeting went for about two hours and more than 200 farmers from the village reportedly attended the meeting.
This is the only village under proposed Mallannasagar reservoir limits which has been demanding the implementation of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act -2013 (LA Act- 2013) while all the other four villages have surrendered.
“Based on the request of the villagers, we are ready to send officials to the village in the next three to four days and prepare proposals for the compensation.
“Irrigation office will be established to extend the award for the lands that would be acquired. All the villagers will get equal justice,” said Mr. Venkataram Reddy.
