The city police on Wednesday launched a probe into the circulation of a morphed picture of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on the internet, along with abusive comments, by pro-Telangana activists.

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee media representative M. Ajay lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime wing of Hyderabad Central Crime Station alleging that some activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi Vibhag were trying to defame the CM by circulating the picture on Facebook along with the objectionable comments. The Cyber Crime wing has sent an e-mail to Facebook authorities asking them to immediately delete the content.

Unidentified persons created a Facebook account named Telangana Muddubidda and posted the morphed photograph, which was being circulated among pro-Telangana activists and students. “We’re yet to ascertain who started the account,” investigators said. The complaint was being investigated into. No case was registered.
