Civic worker dies

D. Shanker (35), who was undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital after inhaling poisonous gas inside a clogged drain at L. B. Nagar on Friday, died on Sunday.

Earlier, a 30 year-old-man who had entered the 15-ft drain died of similar reasons. Police handed over Shanker’s body to his relatives after an autopsy at OGH.

Two boys drown

Two boys S. Yelender (12) and K. Sorya (8) drowned in the Rampally tank at Keesara on the city outskirts on Sunday.

The two boys, residents of Indira Gruha Kalpa at Jinamaram Colony, entered the tank for a swim. Their bodies were retrieved by the police with the help of locals.

‘Treasure trove’ mining

A gang of ten persons from city attempted to dig up the premises of the Methodist Church near Dharur railway station of Ranga Reddy district on Sunday in search of a treasure trove, the police said.

The gang members fled the spot after watchman Samuel called in the police.

They left behind two cars in which they drove to the place. The police seized the two cars and launched a manhunt for them.
