Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna has said that the State Government is committed to make Hyderabad the capital of healthy living by developing the green cover and lung spaces.
Along with the officials of the Forest Department, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, the Minister went round the Mahavir Harina Vanasthali, Medipalli Shantivanam and Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam Parks and the adjoining forest areas during the day-long visit on Saturday.
GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, HMDA Commissioner T. Chinranjeevulu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P.K. Jha and others were among the team that went round the parks. The Minister also reviewed the development of urban parks in the forest blocks around Hyderabad.
At Mahavir Harina Vanasthali, the Minister enquired with the officials about the arrangements made for the safety of flora and fauna there and drinking water facility to the animals. The team also visited the Mansoorabad forest area abutting the park.
The Minister and other officials planted saplings at Medipalli Shantivanm urban park later and examined the park compound wall and watch towers. At Bhagyanagar Nadanavanam, the Minister expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for the visitors and suggested the officials to develop similar facilities in other urban parks.
