Solving a Rubik’s cube puzzle is a skill and arranging many such cubes together to make a portrait, is, well, an art in itself. And in trying to doing both simultaneously, 50 of the city’s students are trying to make a record as well.
These students aim to make a portrait of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh with these cubes in a record 20 hours at Prasads IMAX on Saturday, the death anniversary of the freedom fighter.
“We will use over 8,000 scrambled Rubik’s cubes. The task is to arrange them according to the 320 charts that we have designed to make a huge portrait of Bhagat Singh,” says Vivek Prasad Mada of Telesis Education, under whose aegis the event is being held.
Even the little ones are up for the challenge.
“I like solving the Rubik’s cube and am having fun participating in the record attempt,” says Aarushi Kataria, a second class student.
Inculcating awareness
“Many youngsters are not aware of our history and the pain our freedom fighters and leaders have gone through. This is an attempt to create awareness among youngsters about them,” says Mr. Mada.
The group commenced their attempt on Friday and look at completing it on Saturday.
“We will be capturing photographs after every one hour and getting them attested by visitors and others at the venue. Once the portrait is ready, all the pictures would be sent to Limca Book of Records authorities,” Mr. Mada explains.
The existing record is held by Speed Cubic, an organisation from Mumbai, which made a portrait of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in January this year using over 6,400 cubes, he says.
