The city police on Tuesday filed a petition in a Delhi court, seeking the custody of the recently arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda, in connection with a case registered against him and others here.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Central Crime Station filed the petition before the court, which had remanded Tunda to judicial custody till October 15 in connection with a 1997 bomb blast case booked against him. The court directed that the plea be placed before the court of the Additional Sessions Judge, which issued a notice to the Special Cell’s investigating officer, seeking his response on the Hyderabad police’s application on October 4.

1998 case

PTI reports: The Hyderabad Police said that a case was lodged on July 2, 1998 on a complaint that “ISI activities are going on in order to wage war against the government and to create unrest in India and to cause damage to the internal security of India and to Hindus and their properties on a large scale.”

Police said the case was lodged under various sections of the IPC, the Arms Act and the Explosives Substances Act.
