City gets its Cycling Park

For all those yearning for an exclusive cycling track in the midst of greenery and pleasant ambience, the Telangana State Forest Development Corporation developed first such track in the vicinity of Botanical Garden under the 274 acre Kothaguda Reserve Forest area.

Minister K.T.Rama Rao inaugurated the 2.9 km cycling track here on Monday and congratulated the TSFDC for developing the green getaway in the midst of IT hub in Kondapur area.

The 30-acre Palapitta (Telangana’s State Bird) Cycling park was developed by the TSFDC by reclaiming the area that was turned into a dumping yard. The work on the park started an year ago and in the recent Haritha Haram programme, about 7,500 saplings of 40 different species of big plants were planted in the park to turn into a pleasant green zone in the coming days.

Mr.Rama Rao said Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao gave top priority for increasing greenery in the State and in the capital city which was increasingly turning into a concrete jungle to provide fresh air, clean environment and to check pollution. He said every one should cooperate to keep the park clean and pollution free. He recalled that the TRS government could protect the Botanical Gardens because of its commitment to protect green spaces and said the cycling park was on par with such facilities in developed countries. A fee of Rs.50 and Rs.25 per hour will be charged for adults and children respectively in the Cycling Park and the Corporation also provided over 200 new cycles to be given on hire. For those who bring their own cycles, the fee would be Rs.25 for adults and half of that for children and the timings of the cycling track are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The park has all amenities and refreshment stalls.

TSDFC Chairman Banda Narender Reddy, Managing Director Chandan Mitra, Serlingampally MLA A.Gandhi, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Harichandana and others were present.
