They jostled to get to the venue. Tickets were snatched like hotcakes. But those lucky few who could finally get into Shilpa Kala Vedika had a gala time at the live concert of popular playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, organised by The Hindu , in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The audience was kept in rapt attention from the beginning. Dressed in a flowing red outfit, the singer mesmerised the audience. Starting with soulful songs such as ‘Jadu hai nasha hai…’ Ms. Ghoshal ratcheted the mood of the audience to a whipping frenzy.
The packed hall went berserk when she sang songs like ‘Ooh la la’ from Dirty Picture. Irrespective of their age, the audience grooved to the lively, foot-tapping songs rendered by her and one could see the audience following the lead singer or at least lip-syncing.
With her unique ability to connect with the audience, Ms. Ghoshal finally left the audience rooting for more.
Obliging the popular demand, she sang popular songs from Hindi, Telugu and even Tamil. The packed hall erupted into euphoria when Ms. Ghoshal sang Telugu songs and even more when she chose to sing a popular Tamil score composed by A.R. Rahman.
With a brilliant supporting band, Ms. Ghoshal indeed left an indelible mark on the audience.
