Hundreds participate in the ‘Shobha Yatra’ procession

A festive atmosphere prevailed at Dhoolpet, Mangalhath and Begum Bazaar as hundreds of people gathered to participate in the ‘Shobha Yatra’ organised on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami on Tuesday.

The rally was held peacefully amidst tight police security.

The dingy lanes were decked up with saffron flags as youngsters from across the city converged at the Mahakaleshwari Mandir in Upper Dhoolpet, from where the rally started in the afternoon. It was organised by Sri Rama Utsav Committee.

People and children lined up on the roadsides and rooftops to welcome the procession as it passed through Dhoolpet, Jummerath Bazaar, Begum Bazaar and Siddiamber Bazaar before culminating at Gowliguda in the evening.

Security beefed up

Senior police officials supervised the security arrangements. Policemen drawn from Rapid Action Force, APSP, Task Force and civil police were deployed as part of bandobust.

As a precautionary measure, police covered up all places of worship on the procession route.
