A research work on heart attacks among the Indian population, conducted by a senior cardiologist from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), B. Hygriv Rao, was presented in 18th World Congress of Electro Physiology held at Nice, France, recently.

The five-year research conducted by Dr. Rao, along with other doctors, revealed that compared to western countries, heart attack and sudden cardiac death occurred at a relatively younger age (50 to 60 years) in India. The study claimed that overall, the occurrence of sudden cardiac death after heart attack was more common among Indian population, a release said.
