After a short period of respite marked by widespread cloudburst, winds and hailstorm, the mercury has caught up once again in the city.
Those who ventured out on Saturday could feel the singe of the sun, augmented by warm winds in the evening resembling heat wave-like conditions.
The city has recorded a maximum temperature of 39.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday, up from Friday’s 38 degrees.
The minimum was recorded at 23.3 degrees.
Traffic on the city roads during the afternoon hours was noticeably less owing to the torrid weather.
Tender coconut sellers and vendors of cold drinks such as lassi, pudina and lemon water made brisk business.
Hotter days ahead
Temperature could reach 40 degrees in the coming two days, the Met Department forecast on its website.
