IT giant Cisco Systems has evinced interest in partnering with the Telangana government in its endeavour to introduce digitalisation across all departments.

Cisco executive chairman John Chambers complimented the State government for its initiative to create the necessary infrastructure that is vital for digitalisation. Mr. Chambers conveyed his willingness to extend support to the government during his meeting with the delegation led by IT and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao in Silicon Valley on Friday, as part of the latter’s ongoing U.S. tour.

Mr. Chambers, who welcomed Mr. Rao along with representatives of the company’s Indian operations, gave a presentation on Cisco’s plans for Digital India and Digital Telangana.

Support extended

He underscored the need for taking the digital platform to every household to improve service delivery at the grassroots level, and said Cisco would extend its cooperation to help the State set up the technology demonstration network as part of the prestigious fibre grid network.

The Cisco chief directed the company’s India operations team to hold discussions with the government in this regard, and assured that he would interact with the start-ups in T-Hub on the way forward.

He suggested that the State take up a pilot project through Cisco Solutions. Video interactive technologies had the potential to herald significant changes in the e-health and e-communications sectors.

Mr. Rao, who explained the initiatives launched by the State government, wanted Cisco to examine the proposal for setting up a manufacturing unit in Telangana, according to an official release.
