CII Telangana will work on showcasing the State as a manufacturing destination, undertake measures to improve competitiveness of MSMEs, draw up development plans for the new districts as well as provide training and facilitation to farmers in primary food processing in the current financial year. Briefing press persons on the 2017-18 agenda, CII-TS chairman V. Rajanna said the objective was to improve competitiveness, inclusiveness and governance. This was to be achieved through a combination of measures ranging from skill development, supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, promotion of tier II cities and sustainable practices besides offering inputs on the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) front. The State was already at the top of the EODB rankings.

In a presentation, he said the focus would be on promoting Warangal, Medak and Nizamabad, among tier-II locations, besides chalking out district development plans for all the new districts. Emphasis would be laid on creation of industrial corridors and sustainable urban infrastructure through industry participation, he said.

In promoting Telangana into a manufacturing destination, CII-TS sought to pay special attention to development of the defence and Aerospace, pharma and life sciences besides electronics. It would also constitute a state manufacturing competitiveness council to facilitate growth. Towards addressing technology inadequacies of the MSMEs, the industry body sought to support setting up of common research and development facilities as well as testing centres. It proposed to establish technology development centres for robotics/automation and additive manufacturing in Hyderabad and offer business mentoring services to MSMEs, he said.
