The victim was ‘taken’ out of Saidabad Home by CWC member Krishna

A Child Welfare Committee member allegedly sexually abused a boy for two days, after illegally taking him to a room from Saidabad Government Home.

While the K.P.H.B. Colony police of Cyberabad registered a criminal case against the CWC member of Ranga Reddy district, Krishna, questions are being raised as to how the Home officials allowed him to take the boy home against rules. Investigators, after examining the 16-year-old boy and recording his statement, said that they had prima facie found negligence on the part of Saidabad Home superintendent Ramachandrudu.

To face penal action

“Penal action has to be initiated against him as well under Juvenile Justice Act,” K.P.H.B. Colony Inspector Ch. Kushalkar said. In fact, the scope for sexually abusing the boy began since Mr. Krishna was allowed to take him out of the Home.

Investigators are yet to ascertain on what grounds the CWC member -who is supposed to help inmates of the Home if they face any problem from any quarter, had taken out the boy from Home. The 16-year-old was brought out of the Home on June 9 reportedly on the pretext of shifting him to another Home. However, the CWC member didn’t take the boy to any other Home. He took the boy in a three-wheeler to a rented house in K.P.H.B. Colony area and kept him there till June 22. “On June 20 and 21, he sexually abused the boy,” the Inspector said.

Investigators found that the CWC member dropped the boy at the Saidabad Home on June 22 and quietly left the place. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered against Mr. Krishna. AP Balala Hakkula Sangham president Anuradha Rao urged the Government to order for a high-level probe over the alleged negligence of Saidabad Home officials into the incident.
