Child protection training for KGBV teachers today

May 24, 2018 12:45 am | Updated 12:45 am IST - Hyderabad

Teachers of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas will undergo a child protection training module starting May 24.

Mahitha, an NGO which works in the area of child rights, will impart the training that will include a crash course on laws that protect the rights of children, including those against corporal punishment. Teachers will be trained to detect cases of sexual harassment that could be going unnoticed. As care givers of school-going children, teachers will be trained to be responsible for their well being and overall growth in classroom.

The module will also include training teachers to run counselling services for distressed children. The training policy will include sessions on quick reporting of cases of abuse. It will also demand the management to prevent recruitment of teachers with a history of abuse.

The training module is expected to be introduced for teachers of KGBV across Telangana.

In the coming month, teachers in Andhra Pradesh will be trained in the module.
