Chief Minister gets agriculture leadership award

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been selected for Agriculture Leadership Award-2017 given by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture. In a communication sent to the Chief Minister, chairman of ICFA M.J. Khan stated that the national awards committee of the organisation headed by Prof. M.S. Swaminathan has nominated Mr. Rao for the Agriculture Leadership Award in the policy leadership category. Mr. Rao’s name has been proposed “in recognition of the path-breaking initiatives taken by the Government of Telangana under the leadership of the Chief Minister that have resulted in the launch of a number of schemes that have created far reaching impact on the rural sector and touched the lives of millions of farmers”. The award would be presented at the national-level gathering of important stakeholders on September 5 during the 10th Global Agriculture Leadership Summit to be held in New Delhi. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan congratulated the Chief Minister for bagging the Agriculture Leadership award. He said the award was a recognition of the efforts taken by the CM for the development of agriculture through innovative irrigation projects taken up in the State.

The past recipients of the award instituted in 2008 include Prof. M.S. Swaminathan (2008), Dr. Balram Jakhar (2009), Sharad Pawar (2010), Prof. P.K. Dhumal (2011), Dr. Raman Singh (2012), Prakash Singh Badal (2013), Akhilesh Yadav (2014), Shivraj Singh Chauhan (2015) and Ratan Tata (2016).
